WHY COUNSELLING
Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by feelings which seem out of proportion to what triggered them, and sometimes we just don’t know why we feel the way we do. Often these feelings can arise from our past experiences, but in ways in which we may be unaware. Counselling, by creating a therapeutic, non-judgmental relationship, can help you find greater awareness and understanding of the origin of your feelings, and from there helps to build a platform from which change can be created.
Typically I see clients who may experience
Anxiety
Stress
Depression
Emotional Difficulties
Low self-esteem
Sexual problems
Effects of childhood sexual abuse
Relationship difficulties
Although no such list can ever be exhaustive
GETTING STARTED
Our first session will give you the opportunity to talk about what has prompted you to seek counselling and to decide if counselling is for you. If you feel you would like to continue with regular counselling sessions we would continue to meet weekly. Sessions are at the same time each week and each session lasts for 50 minutes. Confidentiality is key to effective counselling and nothing is disclosed to any third parties, except in rare and exceptional circumstances.
I see clients in Watford and Islington, both locations provide a secure and comfortable environment for counselling. Sessions are £40 in both Watford and Islington. I occasionally have slots available for concessionary rates by individual negotiation.
THE NEXT STEP
If you feel that you might find counselling helpful, feel free to call me on 020 8428 8286 (the same number for both Watford and Islington practices) or email me at tscounselling@btinternet.com and leave a contact number. If you get the answering machine, please do leave a message and I will do my best to get back to you on the same day.
COUPLES
When relationships run into difficulty talking to a counsellor can help the couple understand how the problem has arisen and from there how it might be resolved.
Occasionally problems can be talked about within the couple relationship, but often they lead back along the same path towards missed communication. A sense of rational dialogue can be replaced by intense negative emotions, leading to arguments or avoidance.
The role of the couple counsellor is to gain an understanding of the conscious and unconscious dynamics that presently exist to create tension and help the couple find a more satisfactory future.
Couple sessions usually last an hour and twenty minutes and are £60 in both Watford and Islington.
